It is our honor and pleasure to invite you to the Keio University 21st Century COE (Center of Excellence) Program International Workshop entitled gUbiquitous Media and Social Infrastructure." This workshop will be held on August 26, 2005 at Wallenberg Hall, Stanford University.

The 21st Century COE program started in 2002 and is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The aim of our COE program is two-fold; to create cutting-edge interactive media technologies and to apply them to solve eminent social issues in the forthcoming societies.

In this workshop, we will summarize major achievements of our activities so far, and will project them to future research by exchanging opinions among senior and junior researchers from Japan, US and other countries. The major characteristic of our COE program is a merge among the Internet technologies, media design and social applications. In fact, out COE program mainly consists of collaboration efforts by researchers with diverse specialty areas. In this workshop, we will invite experts and researchers from industry, academia, and social fields for presentations and discussions. We expect that their diverse views and opinions will create new ideas and further collaboration.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to attend this workshop. We look forward to meeting you at Stanford University on August 26.
